Visit to Zambesi

On Tuesday the 12th April Lee visited Zambesi on the Stratford Road in Sparkhill, Birmingham for a partnership lunch with Midland Heart. An invite kindly provided from Midland Hearts Regeneration Project Officer Ashok Patel. The event kicked off with introductions and a detailed history of the Zambesi project, talking about how Midland Heart took on the project, moved it to a new venue and how it has thrived ever since. Numerous positive examples were given on the work they have done with service users and how they have battled to overcome the wrong stereotypes that homelessness people can sometimes face, including an attempt by local residents to close Zambesi down. Next came a performance by two young female volunteers who sand ‘The Final Song’, which was both inspiring and thought provoking. After this invited guests and service users tucked into some delicious lunch and networking as well viewing the Art Exhibition.

It was a great insightful afternoon and we would like to thank Midland Heart for the invitation and their continued support.
